Aqueous Earth Catalog
Created by Ennuri Jo, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication, University of Pennsylvania
Aqueous Earth Catalog is an interactive geospatial visualization tool. All users are invited to contribute an entry by filling out a simple form (also available on the maps’ about page). Think of a film that has a body of water in it and ask: just where might that be?
Named after the U.S. magazine Whole Earth Catalog (1968-1972), whose mission was to inventory tools, methodologies and technologies, and otherwise useful resources in a comprehensive, global scale, the Aqueous Earth Catalog encourages students and researchers to shift their understanding of the cultures as static and land bound to fluid, dynamic, and interconnected. The Catalog is a companion piece to Ennuri Jo’s book project, Aqueous Image: World Cinema and the Blue Humanities.
